The first half of 2016 was filled with monthly collages. I simply love how they gave me a burst of inspiration! I am one who is always inspired by everything I encounter, however, I find that it’s always nice to refine that constant inspiration onto one board.
Pinterest is a perfect way to have a mess-free board.*
I wanted to get back into the flow of making collages:
Welcome, Twenty Seventeen.
When was the last time you made a collage? Do you think they’re a great outlet for your inspiration? I would love to know your thoughts!
It’s actual birthday is on Wednesday, but since I already have a post schedule for then, today is just gon’ have to do!
To celebrate, I decided to dedicate this post to some of my favorite shots from this past year. I have experienced so much growth on so many different aspects of my life since starting my blog – I’m super excited to see where this next year will take me.
Off-the-shoulder is definitely one of my favorite trends this season. It’s literally all over the runaways and street style blogs. There’s just something inevitably delicate about exposed shoulders – it’s dreamy.
I’ve been dying to get my hands on a perfect off-the-shoulder top to style endlessly this spring/summer season. I found this one at my job for less than 20 bucks! I love how dainty white can be & with the added ruffle, it has the ultimate boho vibe.
To style this top, I decided to pair it with boyfriend jeans. I honestly love being able to flaunt feminine vibes with loose fitting clothing. There’s just something so powerful about being able to feel beautiful in non-fitting clothing. Am I the only one who feels that way?
I wore my Steve Madden wedges to give my outfit a more clean feel. With all of the bagginess going on, the contrast from the shoes is what ties the look together. I added casual accessories to keep my outfit brunch date appropriate – beaded jewelry is always my go to! I simply love how sassy jewelry can make you feel: it’s the world of sassy self expression! Headscarves have been really fun to incorporate into my outfits, too. I need to pick up a few more and start playing around with different designs. This headscarf game is real.
How would you style this off-the-shoulder top? Let me know in the comment section down below!
I have been wanting to style my boyfriend jeans in a blogpost for the longest and since June is denim month over on my blog, I couldn’t help but go for it!
I am jumpsuit obsessed – and my new job doesn’t help my obsession AT ALL.
I started a new position at Old Navy for Visual Styling and Merchandising and never have I ever loved a retail job as much as I love this one. I was sucked into the retail world right after high school, needing the extra cash to support myself through my college years. At the time, I dreaded it – working for a larger company can make you feel unmotivated, and can definitely make you feel stuck in a rut. But Visual Styling & Merchandising is a world that I am absolutely in lovewith. Styling because hey, my name is Glendaly and I have a fashion blog. Y’all know my love for styling outfits is real. Merchandising, though, is a field in the retail world that I’m starting to explore – it’s interesting trying to figure out what will sell best in the floor plan. It’s the technical work behind the master business plan & as someone who wants to eventually own their own boutique, being able to learn the ins-and-outs of visuals is a blessing.
Another bonus: being surrounded by cute, fun clothes. The inspo never ends! Old Navy has definitely stepped their game up; they’re not your typical mom shop anymore. They are totally fashion forward at an affordable budget. My favorite thing, though? Being able to pick up inexpensive looks for the whole family! As a working momma on a budget, being able to keep my entire family looking fashionable while being able to afford it is bomb.
This denim jumpsuit was a piece I fell in love with immediately the day it came into my store. I knew for a fact that it would sell out super quick. I’m so glad I was able to get my hands on it because this is one piece that can be styled in various ways. It’s the beauty of jumpsuits – they can be dressed up or down, for almost any occasion. Any piece that can give me variety is a piece I need in my closet. It also makes me feel really funky, any clothing piece that can make me feel like a burst of fashionable sunshine is a piece for me.
Disclaimer: I am NOT sponsored by Old Navy, I just work there. I do, however, recommend giving their current collections a chance – the current sales are insane.
And I’m back at it again with another monthly Collage & Wishlist.
This type of post is definitely becoming one of my faves – recycling old magazines in an inspirational way keeps my creative drive going. Make it a plan to invite all of your closest gal pals & have a mood board party! Worth. Your. Time. Trust me.
This months collage is a hybrid between wordspiration and denim daze. Denim is my current go-to fabric and I am sensing a bit of foreshadowing action happening in this months collage. I have been denim obsessed as of late and cannot wait to share some funky denim ensembles I’ve been planning.
I’ve also been obsessed with inspirational quotes. I recently found this Instagram dedicated to quality quotes and I swear it has enhanced my daily perspective to pure positivity. Even on my off days, these quotes inspire me to be grateful and to always feel blessed regardless of my struggles. The page is called @thegoodquote and I recommend everyone give them a follow.
My Wishlist is relatively simple this month. The minimal vibes have been getting stronger as I’ve been getting older. It’s just a way of life, I think. I’m totally in love with this romper – it reminds me that I still need to invest in the perfect romper this summer season. To highlight the delicate black print on the romper, I decided to add black accessories. Cool summer nights need a romper like this to breeze through.
What’s been your inspiration as of late? Is there anything on your current Wishlist? Leave me a comment and let me know down below!
On the 28th of this month, I officially hit my 5th month anniversary of being a Baldie. I won’t ever get over how fast time flies – as I’m getting older, I feel like my days are getting shorter and shorter. Am I the only one?
To celebrate, I decided to dedicate a post completely to my bald head. I’m here today to prove that being bald is beautiful and being CONFIDENT as a Baldie is totally possible. The past 5 months have been filled with constant life changes, but one life change has proven to be the best one yet – embracing the real me.
I want to say thank you if you’ve been following my story and I for some time. Sharing my alopecia experience with the Internet has literally changed my life in ways I never thought possible. I really cannot thank YOU enough for joining me in this life journey.
Thank you to everyone who has personally contacted me, too, it being via e-mail, direct message on IG, or a regular ‘ol comment on my Youtube Channel or here on my blog. The love & support pushes me to continue sharing my story.
Be the change you wish to see in the world. I can never stress that enough.
But life’s been really real on my end. I’m going through some life changes. Unexpected life changes. I promise I’ll be filming an update video soon – I need a good vent session! I’m just waiting for a few more things to fall into place.
I am slowly, but surely making progress in my Parsons x Teen Vogue Fashion Essentials online course. Seriously, I’m SO thankful for the fact that we are given a full year to complete it.
I recently finished the last assignment of the first course – Unlocking Visual Style. I had to submit a layout similar to my first assignment: we had to upload images to a Pinterest board and create/capture a separate imagine completely inspired by them. Here’s the post of my first assignment if you’d like to check it out: Urban Queen.
This assignment, however, was dedicated to my story, who I am & how I can visually represent myself. We had to take photos of our room and create an outfit inspired by them. This one was a little bit tricker because it’s a bit of a challenge to create an outfit inspired by interior design. Maybe it’s just me but whenever I look at my room, 8 out of 10 times, it’s a complete mess & I swear that’s exactly how I feel!
Nonetheless, here’s a screenshot of my board:
The outfit I came up with is pretty girly, with a hint of casualty. There’s an unkept vibe oozing from the distressed jacket, which I feel represents me perfectly. I wore my Plasma tee as a dress – Plasma is always hustlin’ hard & is a New Yorker, that’s that real inspo. HUF socks were added because they’re such a fun accessory and I threw on my JC Tardy’s because they are a huge part of my life as far as fashion blogging/vlogging goes. My favorite fashion vlogger wore these a ton when I first started watching YouTube videos, so when I found them on Poshmark, I just needed them in my life. No lie, they hold immense sentimental value to me. I added the gray beanie to go with the casual vibe & used the fake flowers as a prop to represent my love for Earth. I’m definitely a hippie princess.
As soon as Bonnie & I met up, Bonnie, who is my college bestie, immediately noticed that I was dolled up and asked me if I brought my camera to document my outfit – she seriously knows me and that makes me so happy. Bonnie was my photographer during my pre-pregnancy days; she was the one who helped me with my photos when I started my first legitimate blog a few years back!
We met up in Williamsburg last week to talk business on a collaboration we’re currently working on. I don’t want to release too many details, but just know that we are taking handmade jewelry to a whole ‘nother level, and I couldn’t be more stoked. *Side Note: I do make handmade jewelry & sell it on my Etsy shop here. I also saw this lunch date as the perfect opportunity to get dolled up & style this Gypsy Mirina Necklace I received.
I am obsessed with this statement necklace – I feel like a bohemian princess whenever I wear it. That’s literally what I aim for every day whenever I am getting dressed. The details on the coins are simply lovely & adds the perfect amount of mystical meets gypsy vibes to the necklace.
I wanted the necklace to be the star of this outfit, so I decided to wear my thrifted, men’s red jumper as a sweater dress. To keep warm, I threw on a pair of plain tights & over that, added a pair of simple, lightly detailed, cute socks. As far as accessories go: I wore my fringe crossbody for that added bohemian vibe, & it’s literally my favorite bag at the moment, my faux-fur hat for that added fierce, and my black booties with the white soals. The color block on the socks and shoes adds the perfect amount of funk.
I hope y’all are having an amazing week; my week’s been pretty hectic since I’m currently dealing with midterms. I thought it was only appropriate to take some time off and enjoy a brunch date with my best friend, Oscar*. It’s been a while since we’ve ventured off and just chilled – it was definitely needed on both our ends.
We started our date in Williamsburg eating at one of my favorite diner’s, Kellogg’s, off of the L-train on Lorimer, and ended up in Dumbo. Dumbo is one of my absolute favorite spots to spend my down time. Oscar & I have been coming here for years – it’s where we first started modeling & shooting photos, back in High School.
I don’t go out often, so when I do, I always find myself trying to put a bit of effort into my look. I decided to pair my basic high-rise jeggings with my favorite basic white tee. It’s often said that investing in quality basics is a must, and I couldn’t agree more. The amount of times I have worn both of these pieces in the past few months alone, is ridiculous. I’m honestly very impressed that both of these items are still going strong! When you invest in quality basics, you can mix & match them with SO many looks, no matter what your vibe is. It’s simply amazing.
I was feeling a bit bohemian, as usual, so I decided to throw on this ankle-length cardigan. For accessories, I paired my outfit with my suede, fringed cross body bag and this faux-fur hat. I completed the look with these nude boots because I thought the neutral color matched well with my overall boho vibe. I’m obsessed with how ‘rough’ the soles of these shoes are; they toughen up any look, while being super easy to strut in.
