The Future is Female.

Happy Tuesday:

It’s been a good minute since I picked up a camera & shot on manual.

Before I started my blog, heck, before I even started my YouTube channel, I first became interested being behind the camera. I even applied to FIT in the hopes of majoring in Fashion Photography. But I’ll be honest, I didn’t really commit to photography the way I should have and wasn’t really surprised when I got my rejection letter, either. Life. It happens.

& I’m not sure if it’s just me, but I’ve been feeling super nostalgic lately – I’ve been itching to get back into old habits.

With that in play & my current, serious obsession with the whole Mom/Daughter-Blogger-Duo-thing, I decided to spend an afternoon shooting with my mini. When we’re out and about, she always asks me to take her photos – this just felt right.

At the end, I asked her if she had fun doing the shoot and she yelled “Yes!” with no hesitation.

Happy Wednesday:

Nothing feels more amazing than watching your dreams become your reality. I was not planning on having another shoot with Kaelynn for another few months but baby girl was ready to take photos with mommy. #blessed

This was definitely not expected – but it’s totally something I am extremely happy about. My obsession with the Mom & Daughter Blogger Duo is real and I cannot wait to start heading in that same direction with my own blog.

I was teaching the munchkin how to cross her legs and her attempts were beyond adorable to watch. And she totally got the hang of it after a while! The fact that she is totally open to trying new things makes my heart so warm; there’s really nothing else I can ask for as a mama.

Working on getting detailed shots is the next thing we’re going to tackle next time I include baby girl. She’s getting the hang of it and that means everything.

My little forever girl. ❤

Brooklyn Babies || Adventures of The Mom Blogger

Happy Thursday:

One of my New Year’s resolution for both my blog and YouTube channel is definitely branching out into the world of Mom Blogging. I follow so many mom bloggers who coordinate their looks with their little ones; and the swagspiration is always on point. Now that my girl is almost 2 1/2 years old, I am excited to slowly introduce her to the blogging world and hope that she enjoys it as much as I do.

I’m happy to say that our first impromptu photo shoot went pretty well.

Happy Friday:

I can’t believe the summer is officially over and the school season is already upon us. I’ve been out of university the past year due to having my baby, so it’s kind of weird for me to say that my summer vacation is over. I am super excited about finishing up my last year, though!

Just so you guys know, I did takes pictures of my outfit before hand, mainly because of the busy schedule I will be having the week I start school. This might be the trend for me when it comes to school related outfits – all of my friends have already graduated, so I don’t have anyone to take photos of me on campus.

pic5I bought my backpack about two years ago during an Urban Outfitters sale. I paid only 10 bucks for it, which is amazing! If you ever shop at Urban, make sure you do it when they have their sales. You’ll get some dope pieces for super cheap. I added patches to make it more personal – I have been collecting patches for the past few months, so expect a post soon on my collection & how I add patches to my backpack.

For my top, I went with my ‘50 Cent’ inspired tank crop from American Eagle. It’s super light weight & comfortable and I am obsessed with the way it’s cut. It has such a flattering neckline. My necklace is from my DeadGysie collection – this one in particular makes me feel like a Forest Fairy.

pic8

As for bottoms, I stole my boyfriend’s Zara sweats and rocked them in a high-waisted fashion. These pants are very comfortable and also frames me nicely.

pic7

For shoes, I went with my red Vans to add a pop of color. I also went with sneakers for my first day because I will be on campus for roughly 9 hours. My main goal with this outfit was comfort; it’s going to be fun getting use to being a college student, again.

T-Shirt Dress: Lookbook Summer ’15 || Video

Happy Hump day:

I know Wednesday is normally my outfit [post] day, but I decided to switch things up this week.

Here’s my newest video; 3 looks styling my favorite little black dress.

Which look would you wear? One, two or three?

‘Till Friday,

Happy Hump Day:

I’m so sorry that it’s been 2 weeks since my last outfit post – things at home have been super intense. There’s a family member in the hospital who’s in critical condition, so everything has been seriously out of whack. I haven’t had the time to do anything, I feel like! Nonetheless, I managed to throw this look together on Monday for a few mom tasks I needed to take care of. There was no real effort in coming up with this outfit: I’ve come to the realization that these type of outfits, the ones I style with no real effort, are always my favorite. I loved this look because it was super effortless & perfectly flowly. My gypsy soul thrives when these two are in harmony with my look.

I hope you guys appreciate the fact that I am repeater when it comes to my clothing pieces. You guys have seen all of these pieces, at least once, in previous outfit posts. This tee is one of my favorites – oversized tee’s are a serious essential for every girl, in my opinion. They always sit perfectly on your body and if you’re short like me, you could totally get away with wearing them as a dress. With shorts underneath, of course. Wearing my tee’s as dresses is something new that I’ve been doing and I’m hooked. It’s the perfect way to flaunt my legs. TIP: Flaunt your favorite part of your body with no shame. Just make sure the rest of your outfit is proportionate.

The shorts that I’m wearing are my high-rise shorties from American Eagle. The  pockets hang from them, which is a lovely touch because it shows that I am wearing shorts, without really having to show them.

pic5

I went a bit bracelet crazy; it’s been a while since I’ve done that. High School, I think? It’s a great way to add spice to any outfit & is the perfect touch of bohemian. TIP: To make it extra fun, mix colors, textures & materials.

I threw on this floral kimono for an added layer. I love wearing outer pieces in general since I almost always wear shorter things on my bottom half. I like to ensure that the booty is properly covered.

Both of my necklaces are from my Etsy shop. I’ve worn this black Onyx necklace in almost every outfit post to date & to be honest, I don’t think I’m going to stop rocking it. I combined that necklace with my Quartz necklace because I needed it’s strength. I swear by these crystals – the Earth is made with so much energy & there’s no better way to obtain that energy than by surrounding yourself with Earth’s natural accessories.

pic4

For shoes, I went with my black Steve Madden lace-up booties because they’re the perfect everyday shoe. I’m always being blessed by the shoe gods, I swear.

pic3

I hope y’all are having the best week! I seriously can’t believe that we’re already into the second week of August. Am I the only one who feels like this summer just came and went so fast?

My Everyday Make-up Routine: Drugstore Products Only | Summer ’15

I’ve been wearing a lot more make-up lately; I think it’s because I’ve gained a substantial amount of self love in the past few weeks. That, and I’ve been seriously enjoying improving my make-up game.

Check out my latest go-to make-up look; it’s all done with drugstore products.

What are your current go to make-up products this summer?

Happy Hump Day:

pic1I’ve been in a dark funk lately. Don’t worry, it’s not because I’ve been sad or depressed about anything. Usually when I’m in a dark funk, it means everything is going well & dandy. Black is my happy color. Anyone else feels that way or is it just me?

I came up with this outfit a few days ago; I was feeling a bit adventurous and wanted to take a walk around Dumbo, Brooklyn. SIDENOTE: Dumbo is insane, it’s currently under construction but the view you get of the city is beautiful. Literally one of my favorite spots in Brooklyn. Here’s a picture:

pic4It was midnight when we decided to head out, so I didn’t have time to pick out an outfit. I decided to grab my Brandy Melville T-shirt dress – it’s such an easy piece to style & I’ve been rocking it almost everyday the past few weeks. As a cover up, I threw on my Brandy knitted cardigan. It was a bit chilly, but not super chilly, so it was a perfect fit that night. I feel like I’ve been wearing this piece a lot more now, then when I first bought it 2 years ago. It has definitely gained it’s spot as an essential in my closet.

For my bag, I decided to go with my black Brandy Fringe bag because, as I’ve said before, fringe is my life. To be honest, I actually don’t own any other black bag, so unless I wanted to add a pop of color, this would have been my bag choice regardless.

pic3As for shoes, I decided to go with my Nike Free’s.

I use these sneakers when I go to the gym, but I do occasionally have moments when I feel like adding a bit of sporty chic into an outfit.

For jewelry, I kept it pretty simple with pieces I wear all the time. I was really into the tattoo chocker trend 2 years ago, when the 90s was first coming back to style, but I’m beyond over it. I like the bracelet version because it’s not as ‘teen’ as the necklace, but still gives off some spunk.

This was a super simple, quick outfit I put together and I absolutely love the way it turned out. You could never go wrong with an all black ensemble.

Anyone else into the sporty chic look?

Until Friday.

5 Shoes Every Young Mom Needs in their Closet

There are different types of fashion chicks in the world – there’s the bag girl, the basics girl, & we can’t forget the denim girl. I’m going to stop there because we all know, this list is endless. I do, however, proudly pronounce myself as a member of the ‘shoe girl’ community. I am a believer that shoes make or break an outfit, and I have styled countless outfits around my shoe choice.

Here are my 5 types of shoes every young mom needs in their closet:

Comfortable Everyday Sneakers: This is an essential for everyone’s closet, young momma, old momma or not a momma. In the world of young momma’s though, this type of shoe is an essential for everyday errands. I love me a good, heeled bootie, but realistically speaking, as a mom, you’re always on the go. It being grocery shopping, doctor appointments, park dates – you guys get the picture. For color, I’d suggest going for a black pair, It matches with everything, but if you want to spice up your sneaker game with a bit of sexy, go for a red pair. My personal preference are canvas sneakers, specifically Vans. They’re affordable, comfortable if you have flat feet like myself, and are the type of shoe that with time, grows into it’s own personality. They’re fun.

Quality Running Sneakers: Y’all can think I’m a fitness junkie for adding this type of shoe in my list, but my life changed the moment I owned a pair of quality running shoes. The main reason why I bought myself a pair of Nike Free kicks, was due to the fact that I was working a retail job during my pregnancy, had cankles and was in a desperate search to find comfortable shoes. I dropped 80 bucks on them with no hesitation. I didn’t use them much during my pregnancy, though, but I found when using them for their actual purpose, I felt unstoppable. If you are into working out, staying fit and healthy, which you should be, you have kids, take care of yourself for them, then invest in a good pair of running shoes. An added bonus? Rock them in an outfit for that cool, sporty chic vibe. Hint: stay tuned for Wednesday outfit post.

Black Ankle Booties: This listing is going to have 2 parts – sorry if this is considered cheating. I honestly can’t help my love. But it’ll make sense once I explain it: you need a flat pair & chunky heeled pair. I personally think a flat pair of ankle booties is another essential in every girls closet. Its a tad bit more dressier than sneakers, but can still be worn just as casually. In my fashion world, the same can be said about heeled ankle booties. I do prefer a chunky heel, because it’s easier to strut in compared to a thinner one and it’s the perfect shoe to make any cute, casual outfit more grown up. Ladies, you know what I’m saying.

Pumps & Wedges: These are the type of shoes you’d rock on special occasions – parties, weddings, dates. You can own one or the other, or both if you’re down with the shoe girl life, like I am, yes, I own both. In black. Proudly. Again, black would be my go to, but if you’re a feisty soul, go get that neon pink pair.

Flats: I’ll be honest, as much as I love shoes, flats sometimes rub me the wrong way. I’ve bought a few pairs in my life, but only one type has stuck. Those would be my Minnetonka Moccasins. Sadly, I currently don’t own a pair. My babies died about 2 months ago. R.I.P. I would rock flats on occasions where I want to be a little more lazy with my look. As an alternative, however, if you just aren’t about the flat life, I would switch this one out with nude oxfords. Though I do love me some black, it’s nice to have a lighter pair of shoes to casually throw into your wardrobe. You’d be surprised by how many outfits compliment a nude shoe.
