The Future is Female.

Happy Tuesday:

It’s been a good minute since I picked up a camera & shot on manual.

Before I started my blog, heck, before I even started my YouTube channel, I first became interested being behind the camera. I even applied to FIT in the hopes of majoring in Fashion Photography. But I’ll be honest, I didn’t really commit to photography the way I should have and wasn’t really surprised when I got my rejection letter, either. Life. It happens.

& I’m not sure if it’s just me, but I’ve been feeling super nostalgic lately – I’ve been itching to get back into old habits.

With that in play & my current, serious obsession with the whole Mom/Daughter-Blogger-Duo-thing, I decided to spend an afternoon shooting with my mini. When we’re out and about, she always asks me to take her photos – this just felt right.

At the end, I asked her if she had fun doing the shoot and she yelled “Yes!” with no hesitation.

Mama Liked the Roses. | SheisMelrose Interview

Happy Wednesday:

look1

During the first week of May, I met up with my friend and fellow Fashion Blogger, Melody Rosato do an interview dedicated to my motherhood. It was such a lovely experience and I seriously cannot wait to collaborate with Melody again!

Thank you, Melody, for dedicating a post to me the week of Mother’s Day. I’m beyond honored.

We both collaborated on the styling: Melody was awesome enough to let me raid her closet to pick out outfits. She added in her favorite shoes & accessories throughout the entire process.

Oh, and she also had wine at hand the entire time – and boy, was that much needed. Wine & fashion? Yes & yes.

Here are some of my favorite photos from this collaboration:

Love. | Open Journal Summer ’15

Happy Wednesday:

I’ve watched a few open journal type videos on youtube and always had an interest in creating my own version. I was a bit scared at first, because it’s completely different from anything else I’ve done on my channel; it’s a lot more personal. Nonetheless, I decided to go for it.

This summer was pretty wild: I’ve experienced so much, both physically and emotionally. Self love and growth have been the stars of my summer, and I am blessed to have had all of the opportunities given to me. To be honest, I’m a bit heart broken that summer is officially over.

Becoming the mom I’ve always wanted, finding the balance of living with a partner, and learning how to love myself have been such surreal lessons I’ve learned.

I’m beyond excited to see where the fall season takes me.

Here, my open journal for Summer 2015:

July Favorites 2015 || Beauty, Fashion & More & Mini Life Update

My last favorites video was uploaded in April, I’ve since then found a few new things that I’m obsessed with.

There has also been a lot of changes in my life, so at the end of the video, I give y’all a bit of a life update. Beware, though, my baby girl totally interrupts at the end.

Here are my current obsessions:

To the Moon & Back.

Happy Hump Day:

20150725-_MG_7999First things first: I know the photos in this post are a bit different from my previous ones, that’s all thanks to one of my closest homies Oscar Rivera. His skills are insane. We are planning on collaborating weekly, so my outfit photos are going to be a bit more on the artsy side. What do y’all thing? Are you diggin’ them?

Check out his work HERE.

I was totally inspired by the moon with this outfit. This white moto vest has been in my closet for about two years now. I bought this piece about 2-3 weeks before I found out I was pregnant, so I haven’t had the chance to really style it. With being a mom & not fitting into my smaller sizes, this piece was just collecting dust in my closet. It’s definitely the main focus of my outfit. I was going for an edgy, astronaut look. Ha. Can’t even take myself seriously typing that.

20150725-_MG_8078

20150725-_MG_8070I combined my Brandy Melville black tie dye tank with my Neff x Jhene Aiko shorts because mixing prints is just one of my favorite things to do when it comes to fashion. I thought it was a fun way to rock the mono trend, while still keeping the funky feeling I normally aim for.

20150725-_MG_7977For shoes, I went with my black Steve Madden Ankle booties. I was originally going to rock a pair of mono heeled booties, but I wanted to keep this look relatively casual. These booties are one of my favorite pair of shoes because I can wear it with almost any outfit I put together.

Lace up booties is love. Lace up booties is life.

As for my bag, if you’ve been following me, you would know that it’s my only black purse. My favorite thing about this bag, though, has to be the fact that its fringe. I love adding fringe to non-bohemian outfits, it’s the perfect way to add a bit of “chill vibes.”

Let me know what you guys think of these new photos!

How would you style an all white moto vest?

DO Go Crying to Your Momma || Dear Glendaly;

Don’t worry.

Don’t worry about anything. I know that’s a hard thing to do, but I’m telling you, everything is going to be alright. You will find self-love and happiness. Just be prepared, it’ll come to you in the most unexpected ways.

Don’t be afraid nor question where your journey takes you; remember to always trust your journey.

Keep asking for it, keep craving it, keep thriving for it, and most importantly, keep fighting for it.

You’re a survivor. Though, it may not seem like it now, all of these raw and real things that are currently happening to you are all going to help you grow into an understanding, caring, thoughtful woman. We need more people like this in the world. We need you.

Be the change you wish to see in the world. -Gandhi

Take care of yourself. Don’t starve. Eat three meals a day and DO NOT be afraid to snack in between. Work out and take care of your body. It’s the only one you have.

Sleep more. Sleep as often as you can. You deserve it – you body, mind, and soul deserves it.

Don’t ever be afraid to cry. It’s not a sign of weakness, I promise. Those tears are a sign of strength, it takes courage to break down and open up.

Always smile. It’s everyones best feature.

Speak up. Speak up when you know something is wrong. Speak up when you have something you want to say. Speak up no matter what it is you want everyone to hear. Speak up because it’s your given right.

You are worthy of having happiness, and everything in the world that brings you happiness.

You won’t ever be able to love another until you are able to love yourself.

Know your limit and don’t ever be afraid to say no. Your health and sanity are most important.

It’s okay to be selfish, your happiness comes before anything and anyone.

It’s also okay to be confident – remind yourself daily of how truly beautiful you are, both inside and out.

Take yourself out on a date, and remember, it’s only awkward if you make it awkward.

No matter what you see on television, magazines and any other forms of media: having blonde hair, pale skin and being super thin isn’t the only form of beauty.

Wear whatever you want, however you want. Don’t be afraid to express yourself and don’t be afraid to show some skin. Some women feel empowered by showing skin, and some don’t – both are okay.

Laugh often. Share your food. Tell retail workers to have a nice day, even if they don’t respond.

Lastly, never worry about what people think of you. We are all beautiful, despite our imperfections. We are all alive. We can all feel. We can all love.
