Destination New York | OOTD Video

Happy Tuesday:

It’s my last day in New York City!

What better way to spend my last day then with an NYC themed OOTD video. This one was filmed by one of my good friends, Kendrin; also known as Koid24 on Instagram. Filming is his thing and I am so happy we manage to get a little collaboration video in before I left permanently.

The vision was most definitely in sync: I couldn’t be happier with the end result.

Kae and I were treated to a lil’ bowling date by Kendrin & his bae a few weeks ago. Just sit back, relax, and relive a NYC night with me.

Thank you so much for stopping by & watching!

Mad love, forever & always.

Happy Wednesday –

My countdown to Florida is official: 1 more week. 7 more Days. 168 more hours. Too much?

I haven’t had the time to update the blog, but, incase you missed it, I did upload a full update video on my YouTube channel here. Due to certain circumstances, Darien and I have found that New York City just isn’t the place for us right now. It took me some time to adjust, but I’m ready for this new chapter in my storybook. While I’m still in the Big Apple, though, I’ve been hustlin’, harder than ever. Expect my next few posts to be based in NYC & collaborative.

I recently did a shoot with Amanda-Lee – also knows as @a_leethal on Instagram – who’s actually the first female photographer I’ve ever worked with. Needless to say, the #pussypower was real.

As far as the styling goes: this look was 100% inspired by Darien.

Those low points in life – they’re forever causing stress, heartache, maybe even slight depression. And no matter how hard you try to overcome your obstacle, you find yourself worse than before.

That’s okay.

You’re allowed to feel down. Allowed to feel like there’s no hope. You should always permit yourself the time to feel. Even when the feelings aren’t great. You’re human, and you’re meant to handle rough roads. How else are you suppose to grow? Get stronger? Find YOU?

Give yourself the green-light to get lost for a bit. Once you find the path in that dark, dim world that is your thoughts, the directions to yourself will follow.

Happy Tuesday:

It’s been a good minute since I picked up a camera & shot on manual.

Before I started my blog, heck, before I even started my YouTube channel, I first became interested being behind the camera. I even applied to FIT in the hopes of majoring in Fashion Photography. But I’ll be honest, I didn’t really commit to photography the way I should have and wasn’t really surprised when I got my rejection letter, either. Life. It happens.

& I’m not sure if it’s just me, but I’ve been feeling super nostalgic lately – I’ve been itching to get back into old habits.

With that in play & my current, serious obsession with the whole Mom/Daughter-Blogger-Duo-thing, I decided to spend an afternoon shooting with my mini. When we’re out and about, she always asks me to take her photos – this just felt right.

At the end, I asked her if she had fun doing the shoot and she yelled “Yes!” with no hesitation.

Happy Wednesday:

Nothing feels more amazing than watching your dreams become your reality. I was not planning on having another shoot with Kaelynn for another few months but baby girl was ready to take photos with mommy. #blessed

This was definitely not expected – but it’s totally something I am extremely happy about. My obsession with the Mom & Daughter Blogger Duo is real and I cannot wait to start heading in that same direction with my own blog.

I was teaching the munchkin how to cross her legs and her attempts were beyond adorable to watch. And she totally got the hang of it after a while! The fact that she is totally open to trying new things makes my heart so warm; there’s really nothing else I can ask for as a mama.

Working on getting detailed shots is the next thing we’re going to tackle next time I include baby girl. She’s getting the hang of it and that means everything.

My little forever girl. ❤

Bad Boyfriend.

Happy Friday:

BaboonSpoon
Top: Old Navy.

Off-the-shoulder is definitely one of my favorite trends this season. It’s literally all over the runaways and street style blogs. There’s just something inevitably delicate about exposed shoulders – it’s dreamy.

I’ve been dying to get my hands on a perfect off-the-shoulder top to style endlessly this spring/summer season. I found this one at my job for less than 20 bucks! I love how dainty white can be & with the added ruffle, it has the ultimate boho vibe.

To style this top, I decided to pair it with boyfriend jeans. I honestly love being able to flaunt feminine vibes with loose fitting clothing. There’s just something so powerful about being able to feel beautiful in non-fitting clothing. Am I the only one who feels that way?

Wedges: Steve Madden

I wore my Steve Madden wedges to give my outfit a more clean feel. With all of the bagginess going on, the contrast from the shoes is what ties the look together. I added casual accessories to keep my outfit brunch date appropriate – beaded jewelry is always my go to! I simply love how sassy jewelry can make you feel: it’s the world of sassy self expression! Headscarves have been really fun to incorporate into my outfits, too. I need to pick up a few more and start playing around with different designs. This headscarf game is real.

How would you style this off-the-shoulder top? Let me know in the comment section down below!

I have been wanting to style my boyfriend jeans in a blogpost for the longest and since June is denim month over on my blog, I couldn’t help but go for it!

Spring OOTD | Vivacious Apparel.

Happy Wednesday:

I am SO excited for this weeks video – it’s super short but I promise you, it’s totally sweet.

Since starting my new job three weeks ago, I feel like I am FINALLY getting back on track with both filming & blogging.

I do plan on doing weekly videos and posts again: one video and one outfit post per week. There may be some exceptions on certain weeks were I post up two non-video posts on my blog, like this week, but overall, I do plan on getting back into a regular schedule. Thank you for keeping up with me!

Today’s video is an Outfit of the Day, featuring a special top handmade by my lovely friend and fellow blogger, Ashley, of Vivacious Lifestylin’. She, like me, has a small online shop where she sells her handmade goodies. I am a HUGE supporter of small businesses & artists, so I thought it would be fun to trade some goodies and style & feature them on our platforms. I decided to films a video because I’ve been itching to experiment with filming.

It’s that growth – I’m ready to start creating quality content, folks.

Without further or do, here is my OOTD Featuring Vivacious Apparel:

Be sure to check out Ashley’s shop Vivacious Apparel by clicking here.

Do you like how I styled my top? Any ideas on how you would style it? Drop a comment down below!

Thank you so much for watching!

‘Till Friday,

Feel The Bern.

Happy Monday:

With tomorrow being the NY primaries, I wanted to write up a quick post on the importance of voting.

Be the change you wish to see in the world. – Gandhi.

Thank you, Gandhi – this is the quote that inspires a lot of my life actions.

According to statistics, folks between the ages of 18-29 are the least likely to vote. We outnumber past generations – we should be using that to our advantage!

This election is one that we need to keep tabs on. It will deeply affect the way our country functions and will indefinitely impact the future of our kids. Seriously. It’s why I’m pro Bernie. He’s fighting for things that are a lot bigger than what the other candidates are promising. He is fighting for the unjust systems our country thrives on. The systems that benefit the one percent. He’s fighting for the rights for all minorities – you being black, Latino, Middle Eastern – you name it. He’s being the change WE need to see in the world.

I recently picked up this tee from Wicked Clothing, I featured it in my last haul video which you can watch here, and decided to dedicate a post to it.

Processed with VSCO with m6 preset

Darien also picked up these Bernie Nail Decals for me, too. He knows how to make a girl happy.

1,000 Ways to Love.

Happy Monday:

DSC05723

As soon as Bonnie & I met up, Bonnie, who is my college bestie, immediately noticed that I was dolled up and asked me if I brought my camera to document my outfit – she seriously knows me and that makes me so happy. Bonnie was my photographer during my pre-pregnancy days; she was the one who helped me with my photos when I started my first legitimate blog a few years back!

We met up in Williamsburg last week to talk business on a collaboration we’re currently working on. I don’t want to release too many details, but just know that we are taking handmade jewelry to a whole ‘nother level, and I couldn’t be more stoked. *Side Note: I do make handmade jewelry & sell it on my Etsy shop hereI also saw this lunch date as the perfect opportunity to get dolled up & style this Gypsy Mirina Necklace  I received.

DSC05729
Gypsy Necklace.
I am obsessed with this statement necklace – I feel like a bohemian princess whenever I wear it. That’s literally what I aim for every day whenever I am getting dressed. The details on the coins are simply lovely & adds the perfect amount of mystical meets gypsy vibes to the necklace.

I wanted the necklace to be the star of this outfit, so I decided to wear my thrifted, men’s red jumper as a sweater dress. To keep warm, I threw on a pair of plain tights & over that, added a pair of simple, lightly detailed, cute socks. As far as accessories go: I wore my fringe crossbody for that added bohemian vibe, & it’s literally my favorite bag at the moment, my faux-fur hat for that added fierce, and my black booties with the white soals. The color block on the socks and shoes adds the perfect amount of funk.

Mini Life Update & OOTD

Happy Wednesday:

This post might be a bit of a long one – but do not fret! I do have an OOTD Video at the end of this post.

Firstly, I want to apologize to my blogger babes – I have been reading & catching up on your posts, but I haven’t had the time to comfortably sit down and comment on them. My personal life has taken priority over everything else at this moment, so I’ve been trying to squeeze in reading posts here & there, whenever I get the chance. I won’t lie, I’ve been in a bit of a funk lately. I feel like it’s that time of the year – I’ve been stuck in the mood of wanting to stay on break, eat, be with my family, and enjoy ‘me’ time. I’ve been putting a lot of effort into my blog the past few months that I’ve been completely spoiled by this mini break; and to think that Christmas and New Years is coming up. It’s just that time.

I’ve also been in my feels with the fact that I am going to be shaving bald in a few weeks. The plan is to commit between December 26-28th. This journey is really serious and important to me – I can’t help but have constant thoughts about it. I’m extremely scared and nervous about shaving bald. It’s a huge life changing moment, I don’t really know what to expect with this change.

The reason why I haven’t been able to post up photos is mainly due to the fact that my photographer, Oscar, picked up an extra commitment so our schedules have been conflicting. I’m also in the works of creating a mini holiday collection for my Etsy shop [I make jewelry and am super stoked about these pieces]. I’m also excited for the lookbook I have planned for this collection – It’s going to be great.

On December 15th, I will be starting my Parsons x Teen Vogue Fashion Course and that’s another commitment that’s been on my mind. Oh, and we can’t forget that it’s officially crunch time at my University. I’ve been drowning in papers, projects, plays, novels, and soon to be finals.

Life…life’s just been really hectic.

A week before doing wardrobe for the third production at my University, I filmed this all black OOTD. I had tons of fun editing this one. Even though I’ve been enjoying this break of not worrying about my blog, I do miss creating. The beauty of this blog, and blogging and vlogging in general, is that it’s an outlet, a place where I can be free, be myself, and let my creativity flow. This is why I am totally stoked for getting back on my grind. I’m yearning to create.

I hope you guys are doing well, have you been feeling the pressures of this time of year?

Here is my All Black OOTD:

‘Till next time,

GC xo
