Fur-Ever Girls.

Happy Wednesday:

Nothing feels more amazing than watching your dreams become your reality. I was not planning on having another shoot with Kaelynn for another few months but baby girl was ready to take photos with mommy. #blessed

This was definitely not expected – but it’s totally something I am extremely happy about. My obsession with the Mom & Daughter Blogger Duo is real and I cannot wait to start heading in that same direction with my own blog.

I was teaching the munchkin how to cross her legs and her attempts were beyond adorable to watch. And she totally got the hang of it after a while! The fact that she is totally open to trying new things makes my heart so warm; there’s really nothing else I can ask for as a mama.

Working on getting detailed shots is the next thing we’re going to tackle next time I include baby girl. She’s getting the hang of it and that means everything.

My little forever girl. ❤

Brooklyn Babies || Adventures of The Mom Blogger

Happy Thursday:

One of my New Year’s resolution for both my blog and YouTube channel is definitely branching out into the world of Mom Blogging. I follow so many mom bloggers who coordinate their looks with their little ones; and the swagspiration is always on point. Now that my girl is almost 2 1/2 years old, I am excited to slowly introduce her to the blogging world and hope that she enjoys it as much as I do.

I’m happy to say that our first impromptu photo shoot went pretty well.

5 Shoes Every Young Mom Needs in their Closet

There are different types of fashion chicks in the world – there’s the bag girl, the basics girl, & we can’t forget the denim girl. I’m going to stop there because we all know, this list is endless. I do, however, proudly pronounce myself as a member of the ‘shoe girl’ community. I am a believer that shoes make or break an outfit, and I have styled countless outfits around my shoe choice.

Here are my 5 types of shoes every young mom needs in their closet:

Comfortable Everyday Sneakers: This is an essential for everyone’s closet, young momma, old momma or not a momma. In the world of young momma’s though, this type of shoe is an essential for everyday errands. I love me a good, heeled bootie, but realistically speaking, as a mom, you’re always on the go. It being grocery shopping, doctor appointments, park dates – you guys get the picture. For color, I’d suggest going for a black pair, It matches with everything, but if you want to spice up your sneaker game with a bit of sexy, go for a red pair. My personal preference are canvas sneakers, specifically Vans. They’re affordable, comfortable if you have flat feet like myself, and are the type of shoe that with time, grows into it’s own personality. They’re fun.

Quality Running Sneakers: Y’all can think I’m a fitness junkie for adding this type of shoe in my list, but my life changed the moment I owned a pair of quality running shoes. The main reason why I bought myself a pair of Nike Free kicks, was due to the fact that I was working a retail job during my pregnancy, had cankles and was in a desperate search to find comfortable shoes. I dropped 80 bucks on them with no hesitation. I didn’t use them much during my pregnancy, though, but I found when using them for their actual purpose, I felt unstoppable. If you are into working out, staying fit and healthy, which you should be, you have kids, take care of yourself for them, then invest in a good pair of running shoes. An added bonus? Rock them in an outfit for that cool, sporty chic vibe. Hint: stay tuned for Wednesday outfit post.

Black Ankle Booties: This listing is going to have 2 parts – sorry if this is considered cheating. I honestly can’t help my love. But it’ll make sense once I explain it: you need a flat pair & chunky heeled pair. I personally think a flat pair of ankle booties is another essential in every girls closet. Its a tad bit more dressier than sneakers, but can still be worn just as casually. In my fashion world, the same can be said about heeled ankle booties. I do prefer a chunky heel, because it’s easier to strut in compared to a thinner one and it’s the perfect shoe to make any cute, casual outfit more grown up. Ladies, you know what I’m saying.

Pumps & Wedges: These are the type of shoes you’d rock on special occasions – parties, weddings, dates. You can own one or the other, or both if you’re down with the shoe girl life, like I am, yes, I own both. In black. Proudly. Again, black would be my go to, but if you’re a feisty soul, go get that neon pink pair.

Flats: I’ll be honest, as much as I love shoes, flats sometimes rub me the wrong way. I’ve bought a few pairs in my life, but only one type has stuck. Those would be my Minnetonka Moccasins. Sadly, I currently don’t own a pair. My babies died about 2 months ago. R.I.P. I would rock flats on occasions where I want to be a little more lazy with my look. As an alternative, however, if you just aren’t about the flat life, I would switch this one out with nude oxfords. Though I do love me some black, it’s nice to have a lighter pair of shoes to casually throw into your wardrobe. You’d be surprised by how many outfits compliment a nude shoe.

7 Awesome, Life Changing Benefits I’ve Gained From Being a 21 Year old Mom

Being a young mom is tough – there’s a lot of pressure from society alone that makes it an unfortunate situation to be in. Not saying that it really is an unfortunate situation to be in, but we can’t deny that that’s one of the many connotations that come along with that title. I can totally understand and empathies with folks who feel this way. I was definitely one of them, and I would be a liar if I didn’t admit that. Being a mom during the prime of your young adult life is scary.

Here’s an honest list of things that immediately came to mind when I found out I was pregnant:

1. I can’t by myself clothes anymore.

2. I can’t by myself shoes anymore. [Yes, these two deserve their own listing. Feel free to judge me.]

3. I can’t smoke weed anymore.

4. I can’t turn up or get trashed, period.

5. I’ll have absolutely NO FREEDOM.

6. I can’t study abroad like I want to.

7. SCHOOL!? WTF IS GOING TO HAPPEN WITH SCHOOL?!

8. I’m not fully happy with my current partner, having a baby can’t possibly be an option.

9. Babies are gross.

10. I’m going to be fat & have stretch marks. Body. Ruined. For. Life.

I’m going to end this list at 10 because I swear, this list can go on forever. I’ll be the first to admit – this list is pretty sad. The only thing that made sense for me to worry about was school & boyfriend issues, but all that extra junk? Pathetic. I’m a bit embarrassed writing this up, but I want my blog, and every post in my blog, to be honest. I won’t lie, it actually feels great letting all of these thoughts out. You should try it sometime.

My priorities in life did not include a baby. I never even held a baby up until the day I gave birth. Crazy, right?

Even though I was scared, I’m beyond blessed and glad that my partner and I decided to keep the baby. It’s been one hell of a ride – for both of us – but I see all of the positivity that followed our little blessing.

Here are 7 benefits I’ve gained from being a 21 year old mom in no specific order:

1. No, you can’t buy yourself clothes or shoes as often, but spending your money on making a little person look super fly, is just as satisfying.

2. My thought’s on getting ‘turnt’ in general: I love the feeling I get after having a few drinks & taking a few hits from a joint. Just keeping it real. But I never realized how time consuming getting wasted on the weekends really was, up until I didn’t do it anymore. It’s cool to occasionally get trashed with your homies, but the time you have is precious. Use every minute to it’s full potential, in whatever it is you think you need to work on. For me, that was, and still is, building my own brand & business. I’d much rather spend my weekends at home with my baby, and then working after-hours on my future.

3. I found my reason for life. I was a very distracted, undriven young woman before I got pregnant. I procrastinated at school & work, and literally half assed every project that needed to get done. Having my baby opened my eyes into a new part of life – the part of constantly growing and achieving health, wealth, success and happiness in every aspect of my life. That’s some powerful stuff, if you ask me.

4. Self Love. This is definitely my favorite benefit I’ve gained thus far being a young mom. I have a little girl who looks up to me. I’m her first and main role model. I need to show her self love, and self empowerment because I want her to be a girl boss. I’ve never been happier with myself, up until this moment of my life, and trust me, this feeling is complete contentment all the damn time. It’s life changing, promise.

5. Patience is my second favorite benefit I’ve gained thus far being a young mom. It has come in handy when waiting to cross the street, dealing with my partner and child, and even my health & fitness. Patience is necessary for a happy, successful life. I believe everyone should have this quality.

6. When you have kids young, that means when your kids are old enough to live their own lives, you’ll still be young enough to get down and dirty. Not that kind of dirty, but you’ll still have the time & energy to do all of those crazy things – like travel. I plan on traveling the world once my kids are old enough to live their own life. And that’s something I’m looking forward too. Oh, and you’ll be able to keep up with your grandkids, that’s always fun!

7. The most serious benefit I’ve gained from being a young mom? Appreciating life as a whole. No one really remembers the milestones they go through as a baby. You don’t realize how amazing life & growth really is until you witness it. The little things: watching my daughter crawl for the first time, walk for the first time, watching her examine and try to understand things that she touches, hears, see’s, it’s amazing. It’s something that I feel like I could never express with words – it’s something you have to witness to understand. Life is a beautiful thing, and being able to bring life into the world, no matter what your age is, really, is a blessing.

I’m a believer in things happening for a reason and I thank the universe everyday for bringing my little girl into my life. I never saw myself as a young mom, but am beyond proud to say that I embraced the challenge and fell in love with the experience. I’ve grown on so many levels since being a mom, and I will forever appreciate these experiences and lessons.

Until Wednesday.

How I Lost 25 Pounds After Having My Baby.

Hey there, beauts:

It’s Friday, so ya know what that means? It’s video time.

I was asked by a lovely subscriber – who I actually know in my personal life & haven’t seen in forever – if I could do a video all about how I lost my pregnancy weight.

If you have any tips on how you diet & exercise, please leave them down below in the comment section. I’m always looking to learn new tricks!

I hope you learn a thing or two from my video. Enjoy. GC xo

P.S. Don’t mind the fact that I’m not looking super glam in this video. It be like that sometimes.

Lucky Ones.

pic2Happy Hump Day!

Just to make things clear, I haven’t yet figured out a schedule for my posts. I’m thinking 3 days a week: Monday, Wednesday & Friday.
This is how it’s gon’ be broken down:

Monday: Written post.
Wednesday: Outfit/Photography post.
Friday: Video post.

I’m super stoked to use this blog as a form of expression. I honestly feel like this time, my blog WILL grow with me. I can’t wait to embark on this adventure & hope to make tons of new friends along the way.

I was speaking to Darien [my boo thang] about planning & figuring out where I should take this blog & he recommended that I should have a variety of photos, writings & videos.

I’d love to write more, both for my blog & in my free time. I have a few reasons why: Mainly, I NEED to write more. I use to love writing in high school. It was one of my favorite things to do during my free time. But as I got older, I don’t know what happened, but, my interest just disappeared. Reading & writing is one of the most magical forms of expression, I think. These two things can keep your imagination soaring – that’s amazing. I’d also love to share my experiences as a young momma in this blog. It’d be great to even have discussions about momma life with y’all! If you have any suggestions on what I should write for any future posts, please, let me know.

Fashion is my niche. Hump Day = Best day of the week. It just works.

I will forever love Youtube. I’ve thought about quitting but the love between us is too strong. So expect videos from me. Mostly fashion videos, but don’t worry, there will be some variety in content.

I don’t want this intro to be super long so I’m going to end it here. I promise, next written post is GOING TO BE a proper INTRODUCTION; all about who I am and why I’m here, posting. Stay tuned.

Back to the outfit:

To be honest, there were 2 other outfit posts that were suppose to go up today, but with the circumstances that is called my life, I had to work around distractions.

There were a few things Darien & I had to get done on Sunday, so I had to rush, quickly put an outfit together, and head out. My completed look:

pic3

Don’t mind the fact that it’s the ending of June & I’m fully covered. It was pretty chilly in the a.m. due to the rain.

My main tip for this look: black is always the new black. TIP: When in doubt, black it out. No one can ever go wrong with wearing black. I don’t own a black t-shirt [I desperately need to change that], so I decided to add a bit of color with this burgundy/red boyfriend tee. Boyfriend tee’s are my favorite, they just fall in the right places. It was chilly, as I stated earlier, so I covered up with my knit cardi from Brandy Melville.** TIP: When wearing the same color, spice things up with some texture.

I’m so happy that I’ve managed to loose enough weight to pick up a few pair of jeans – these black high waisted skinnies from AE were such a great pick up. I’ve already worn the hell out of them! They match everything, fit me nicely, & are high waisted so food babies can easily be covered.

Shoes & Bag**: I’ve had both of these pieces for over 2 years now, and they are both two of my favorite pieces to rock. Remember my last post? I still stand by fringe being equivalent to my life. The shoes: it’s been a while since I’ve rocked these, but wearing them reminded me of why I loved them so much. Expect to see these again this summer.

pic5

pic4For jewelry I kept it super simple with one necklace. I’m wearing the Onyx necklace from my Etsy shop. I’ve been wearing it a lot lately – it’s my current favorite go-to-piece.

This was a super simple, quick look, but is an outfit that really reflects who I am. There’s nothing wrong with being simple sometimes. It’s actually pretty refreshing.

TIP: Sit back, relax & enjoy the simple things.
